The association

The international association

The association wants to be an instrument for the local authorities, first among them the Liguria Region and the Sanremo municipality, to make relations with Swedish institutions dynamic, and in particular the Alfred Nobel Foundation, responsible since 1905 for the complex management of the awarding of the prestigious Nobel Prizes, whose ceremony takes place every year on 10 December.

Since 2019

The seven founding members, whose professional experience and connections to the economic and social fabric of San Remo and Sweden gave birth to the association on 21 June 2019, represent a harmonious mosaic of strengths and skills.

ROBERTO PECCHININO

Journalist, president of the Sanremo Host Lions Club, creator of the ‘Tea with the Nobel Laureates’ event that for fifteen years has allowed people to follow the ‘Nobel Prize Giving’ ceremony live via satellite from Sanremo.

GIAN MARIA LETO

CEO of the Prime Quality Company, which has been the concessionaire for the management of Villa Nobel since last December. In just a few months, it has already carried out important extraordinary maintenance work, such as the restoration of the fresco in the main hall and the renovation of the outdoor park.

BARBARA BORSOTTO

CEO of the Maison Daphne with his sister Monica, of the internationally renowned San Remo Atelier. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s birth (21 October 1833), the ‘Nobel’ Foundation commissioned Renzo Borsotto to design the scarf dedicated to the great scientist, which was distributed during the Ceremony organised in San Remo in 1983 in the presence of President Sandro Pertini, H.S.H. King Charles XVI Gustaf of Sweden, R, and with the extraordinary participation of over 20 Nobel Laureates. Maison Daphne is the only Italian company exhibiting its products in the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm.

ANTONIO (TONY) MARCHESE

hybridiser, inventor of numerous roses including the world-famous Rosa Mystica, he created the ‘Nobel Rose’.

ALBERTO GUGLIELMI MANZONI

Historian, writer, author of the book entitled ‘Alfred Nobel’s Villa in San Remo between history, mysteries and characters’ published by De Ferrari.

ENRICO OLIVA

A public official, he has handled relations with the Nobel Foundation since 2014 on behalf of the local authorities and, in particular, the Liguria Region, and was appointed Director of the Association by the founders.

SERGIO VIGLIETTI

An entrepreneur in the floriculture sector, he has important connections with the Swedish market and was instrumental in setting up the first business network of operators in the sector, taking the impetus from the Nobel Foundation flower designer.
